Artefact 1
For my first artefact i plan to hold a number of surveys at cinema's. I will choose three cinema's within my local area to get a wide range of responses, these cinema's will be: The Savoy, Broadway and Cineworld.
My Survey will comprise of a short questionnaire split into three sections: Perception, Technology and Psychology. For each section there will be a number of questions, ideally each section should take no longer than 2 minutes.
Perception: for this section i want to gauge the viewer initial knowledge regarding film in sound, how they perceive it and whether they think it plays a big part within a film.
Technology: for this section i will briefly inform them about certain technologies put into use within the film industry and ask them how they personally view them. There answers i will be able to relate back to my research project.
Psychology: for this section i will show them a few clips each with either slightly different saturation as well as various accompanying pieces of music, this again i can relate back to my research project.
Whilst at the cinema's i will make a note of the viewer's name, age and the film they are coming to see.
I will now work in more detail on this survey devising the questions and planning the survey times.

External Client Project
Initial Research
I found this video on YouTube, again it is a promotional video for a garden centre, it is made up of a number of short videos with the purpose of increasing interest in Wyevale during the autumn months. I like these shorts videos because they represent the stereotyped idea i have when thinking about garden centers; Simplicity seems to be a key factor as well as melodic music and the voice actor with a warm voice. This has given me a good idea about how to go about creating the video for Selected Plants.

Initial Research
To start this project off i decided to do some research regarding garden centre's which is the most similar business to Selected Plants. I found a video on YouTube which quite nicely shows the sort of relaxed and informative feel i want the video to have.
Notcutts Garden Centre in Newnham Court Shopping Village
This video is 60 seconds long, and talks about what Notcutts garden centre offers, this was a good inital starting idea for me, however i would hope my video would look more stylish.
External Client Project

The business is called Selected Plants and they specialize in herbaceous plants. They have a large nursery located at Ivy Hatch in Kent. I have spoken to the owner and have arranged to visit the site and talk in detail about what sort of advert he wants for his website.
On first impressions he wants a small video 45-60 seconds showcasing the sort of quality that they offer, as well as giving a brief history about the business and an interview from the owner. The purpose of all this is to increase customer interest and make them aware why choosing Selected Plants would be a good choice for them.
I plan to visit the site next weekend which will allow me to start drawing up the necessary paperwork, as well as storyboards and it will give me a chance to talk directly to the owner.

Context 3
Initial Ideas
Progression Through Media Production: For this idea i plan to use five images which show me working through stages of media production, including editing, filming etc. The idea of this is to show my progression as a practitioner during the multimedia course.
Bringing Things into Focus: This idea is a metaphor to show my development towards multimedia. I plan again to have a series of images which appear to be seen through the lens of a camera. I will start with an out of focus zoomed in image which will progress towards a clear a vivid image.
After Effects: I enjoy using after effects and what to display my ability using it, for this will have a series of images on the editing suite each at a different stage of editing starting with the basic image and ending with the final product.
Equipment: This idea will consist of me and filming equipment, i will green screen a picture of me into every shot. It will begin with me and a basic camera, and as the pictures progress my surroundings will change. So a tripod will appear and then a guy with a boom pole and mic etc. This i hope will show how my knowledge has development and how my abilities have increased as well as my resources and friends.

Client Project
Filming
On Tuesday Sam and I went to the NTU gym, and i filmed the necessary footage for the second scene of my advert, the hall there was a good size and we had ample time to complete our filming. I got all the shots that i needed and didnt run into any problems. I have spent the last couple of days editing the footage taking what i need and removing what i dont. I plan to continue editing and successfully complete my scene.
